Cox Ohio Publishing Offers Buyouts.

Cox Ohio Publishing, which operates the Dayton Daily News among other newspapers, is extending buyouts to "retirement-eligible employees," the company announced today.

The voluntary plan is for staffers who meet certain age and service requirements.

"For those employees who may already be looking at career options in the near future and who have given many years of loyal service to Cox Ohio Publishing, this may be a good opportunity," Emily Chambers, vice president of human resources for Cox Ohio Publishing and the Dayton Daily News, said in a statement.

Eligible employees have until Sept. 14 to apply. Cox did not say how many buyouts it was seeking nor the specifics of the plan.

Cox Ohio publishes four dailies, five weeklies and eight Web sites.
