Coventry singer makes history at British Soap Awards; Navin Kundra made soap history over the weekend at the posh bash.

Coventry singer Navin Kundra made history last weekend after winning at the British Soap Awards.

Saturday (2 June) night saw the glamorous stars ofBritain's best soaps come togetherat London's Hackney Empire theatre to celebrate the 20th Annual British Soap Awards, broadcast on ITV.

In the first time of the history of the awards, the highly competitive "Scene Of The Year" Award was given to both Doctors and Eastenders following a joint split decision by the judging panel.

The award winning scene in Doctors was broadcast on Friday June 9 2017, where Navin performed his hit single 'Mehbooba' (meaning beloved) during a Bollywood Proposal.

Navin said: "I am absolutely over the moon that we won the award and would like to thank the entire team of Doctors for pushing the boundaries of British soaps by producing something unique.

"I make music in Hindi and English and this was the perfect platform for me to showcase that whilst mixing and celebrating both culture together in extraordinary fashion."

Having previously, broken a Guiness World Record with the song, and performing it for the Royal Family where he famously got Prince Charles to call Camilla his 'Mehbooba', Navin created a new English version of the track for the Doctors episode.
