Course on international humanitarian law concludes at ICUP.

PESHAWAR -- A 2-day course on International Humanitarian Law organized jointly by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and Department of Shariah and Law concluded at the Henry Dunant Room of the Islamia College, Peshawar on Friday.

The Head of Sub-Delegation of the ICRC for Peshawar, KP and FATA, Mr. Xavier Collard was the chief guest at the concluding session.

Vice Chancellor of the University was represented by Registrar Prof. Dr. Sareer Badshah. Besides a good number of students and teachers participants from the Department of Shariah and Law, ICUP, the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Naushad Khan, Coordinators Faisal Shahzada, Daud Zahid, lecturer Haroon Khan attended.

The course was held in the newly opened Henry Dunant Room at the Department of Shariah and Law in which lectures were arranged for the participants on a number of themes relating to conduct of war, concept of self-determination, right and protections of non-combatant population during war. Young faculty from various universities was invited to give necessary instructions on the International Humanitarian Law to the participants.

In their concluding remarks, Mr. Xavier Collard, Prof. Dr. Sareer Badshah, Prof. Dr. Naushad Khan, Mr. Faisal Shahzad, and Mr. Samihur Rehman highlighted the importance of this kind of courses for the students of law and other academic disciplines of the ICUP.

The ICRC Head of sub-delegation assured all out cooperation on his part for going ahead with these kinds of activities in the University, while Prof. Dr. Sareer Badshah assured full cooperation for materializing such activities on the part of the University.

At the end of session Mr. Xavier Collard, Dr. Sareer Badshah, and Dr. Naushad Khan distributed certificates among the students and teachers. Shields and insignia were also exchanged by hosts and guests.
