Courier firm is hiring 200 new workers.

A COMPANY that started off as a tiny courier firm is now creating 200 jobs to add to its 1,000-strong workforce.

Seventy of the posts at DPD Ireland are to be filled by Christmas as Irish consumers are on course for a record [euro]6billion online purchase spend this year.

To meet the huge demand for its services DPD, now a massive country-wide distributor, has invested [euro]13million in its Athlone, Co Westmeath facility.

The company is now hiring sorting technicians, drivers and administrative staff around the country.

DPD started off 30 years ago but has expanded rapidly and has now 30 depots nationwide.
