Couple mark 78 years of married bliss.

As church leaders, sports stars and entertainers united behind National Marriage Week at its launch today, one couple were today confirmed as Britain's longest-married living pair - at 78 years and 190 days.

Michael Brady and his wife, Catherine, who married in Manchester on July 29, 1920, said the secret of their successful marriage was to always put their family first.

Mr Brady, now 98, and his 104-year-old wife, now share a room in a Middlesbrough nursing home.

Molly Highfield, at 65, the second-youngest of the couple's six children, said her parents had always been totally committed to their ``very close'' family.

The couple have 21 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

A women's magazine was under fire today after offering its readers a way out of a loveless marriage by launching a ``win a divorce'' competition.Chat magazine is offering a prize of Pounds 500 towards solicitors' bills for the best reason for divorce.
