Couple's buying dream comes true.
ACOUPLE who have bought for the first time have praised the Government-apptoved Help to Buy scheme.
Gemma and Kenny Buxton took their first step on to the property ladder at a new development in Morpeth - and cut their monthly outgoings in the process.
The couple were looking for a property close to family, friends and connections in the Morpeth area and fell in love with the layout of the St Andrew's Gardens development. They were able to secure the home thanks to Help to Buy.
For Gemma, an ambulance support worker, and Kenny, who manages a local engineering company, said Help to Buy allowed them to put down a deposit of just 5% to secure their four-bedroom detached Downham home.
The couple could then take advantage of a 20% Government equity loan which is interest-free for five years and were able to secure a 75% loan to value mortgage.
Gemma said: "St Andrew's Gardens is just so different from other developments we had seen. There is a lovely sense of community here and, with all of the surrounding greenery and countryside it's such a beautiful place to live.
"We wanted to stay in the Morpeth area, and this development is perfect.
"Using Help to Buy has cut our monthly overheads down considerably. It's a huge weight off our minds and really does make day-to-day living that much more easy. We have been able to stop renting and get onto the property ladder with our own spacious family home."
The Downham house style has a modern, open-plan kitchen, dining and family room which forms the heart of the home, as well as an extra living room with bay window to provide an ideal place to relax. There is also an internal garage.
It has four bedrooms including an en suite master bedroom and modern family bathroom.
Gemma added: "The developers, Taylor Wimpey, were just fantastic throughout. The entire process was smooth and drama free and the team were really flexible, tailoring everything around us and our schedule. We just couldn't believe how easy it all was."
With the town of Morpeth just minutes away, St Andrew's Garden benefits from local amenities such as shops and schools.
Taylor Wimpey North East sales and marketing director Karl Morton said: "We're thrilled that Gemma and Kenny have settled in so well and have enjoyed their experience of purchasing their home with us, it really is testament to our fantastic on-site sales team.
"We're incredibly proud of the St Andrews Gardens development as it provides the perfect setting for first time buyers looking for their future family home.
"The Help to Buy scheme has been especially popular as it makes the process less stressful for buyers of all circumstances. With so many attractive properties on the development we recommend those interested in the St Andrews Gardens development to get in touch as they won't be around forever."
