County mourns GAA star Brian.

THE family of Gaelic player Brian Og Maguire shoulder his coffin yesterday after mourners heard how "football was the symbol that summed up his life".

Brother-in-law Fergal O'Reilly and cousin Gareth McGeogh carried the 24-year-old to his final resting place.

Brian Og died in a workplace accident in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, on Thursday.

Team-mates, friends and family attended as well as senior GAA figures including Fermanagh manager Peter Canavan.

Very Rev Canon Joseph Mullin told the funeral Mass in Lisnaskea Brian was a man who could "draw you into his company" and made you "glad to be alive".

A guard of honour included all the clubs in Fermanagh, the Fermanagh senior team and St Mary's College in Belfast, with home club Lisnaskea Emmetts leading the cortege.

Fermanagh South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew was present as well as fallen tycoon Sean Quinn with his Teemore club.
