CounterPath Corporation (OTCBB:CPAH) (TSX-V:CCV) a provider of SIP-based VoIP softphones, on Wednesday announced that its new standards-based softphone, Bria Android Tablet Edition, is now available worldwide in the Google Play store or through CounterPath's online store.
The company said the Bria Android Tablet Edition enables VoIP calling and PBX features to be extended to Android tablets. Users can make and receive high-quality voice calls over a Wi-Fi or a 3G/4G mobile data connection, which is said to improve productivity and responsiveness by minimising phone tag, as well as allowing enterprises to lower the cost of communications by offloading calls to Wi-Fi in areas like offices, airports and hotels.
In addition, Bria Android Tablet Edition integrates with hosted and premises-based IP-PBXs, as well other CounterPath Bria desktop and mobile softphones for Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and Linux. Android users can access features such as four-digit extension dialing, company voicemail, call transfers and audio conferencing. The call continuity function in CounterPath's Network Convergence Gateway (NCG), also allows users to move calls between desktops and mobile softphones. CounterPath is also developing another version that will add support for video calls, SMS, instant messaging and presence, which will be available later this year.
