Countdown begins for the beginning of smoking ban.

Byline: By Gemma Williams South Wales Echo

A countdown clock was set to be launched today, counting the days until the Welsh smoking ban comes into force. John Griffiths, the National Assembly's Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services, was due to start a digital Olympic-style countdown clock. It will count down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the ban is effected on April 2. The clock will be based at the Old Library, in The Hayes, Cardiff, where the launch was taking place today. At the same time an advertisement van equipped with another countdown clock was due to start a 60-day tour of towns and villages across Wales, providing a visible reminder of the forthcoming ban date for members of the public and businesses.
