Councillor right to expose political opportunism; Letters Letters.
RE: 'City could be social dumping ground', (Tel T -egraph, July 16). Politicians are so good at exposing each other's opportunism. Coun Gary Crookes quite correctly points out the mendacity and dishonesty of the council's Labour group over the decision to allow development on Coventry's green belt land in order to meet housing demands.
Of course the Labour Party have realised that there are votes to be had in these new housing developments, they are manifesting the characteristics of politicians of all shades - total opportunism.
So bankrupt for an answer to Coun Crooke's allegation were Labour that the only words that Ann Lucas could nd were that the attack was 'mean spirited.'.
No doubt Labour are hoping many of these houses will go to immigrants. Let's face it, the main reason immigrants are being let into this country is as a source of cheap labour, but the Labour party also believes that there are votes among immigrants which is why they are so keen for them to come here.
