Councillor has a rude awakening.

A SHOCKED councillor woke up in the middle of the night to find a car had smashed into her house.

A driver crashed into the home of Jennifer Stewart after ploughing through a garden hedge.

The Lib Dem councillor thought her youngest son, Peter, 13, had fallen out of bed when she heard the bang at about 1am yesterday.

But her eldest son, Ben, 24, spotted a Ford Focus wedged into the front of house in Midstocket Road, Aberdeen.

Jennifer said: "The garden has been ruined but I'm just glad that everyone is okay."

Grampian Police said a 28-year-old man was charged in connection with the crash.
