Council launches campaign to keep the city litter-free; TIDY-UP.

KEEPING the streets clean is the number one priority for Birmingham residents - so the city council is asking people for their support with its a #TidyBrum campaign.

To kick off the campaign, city council bins chief Lisa Trickett will be online tomorrow to hear from residents and community groups with their suggestions on how to tackle litter and fly tipping.

Coun | charges contributed to Last year confusion around new green waste charges contributed to a major increase in fly-tipping and dumped rubbish bags lining the streets, while opposition councillors have also blamed cuts in street cleaning for problems.

The #tidybrum: Love Where We Live is one of several initiatives launched by the Labour council in a bid to prevent a repeat of the litter problem this Spring. Other measures include getting each of the city's 40 wards to draw up their own cleaner streets plans.
