Costa Rica : Vice Chancellor opens International Workshop of Experts in Markets related to the Paris Agreement.

Vice Chancellor Lorena Aguilar Revelo opened on Wednesday the International Workshop of experts in markets on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, organized by the negotiating group on climate issues AILAC (Independent Association of Latin America and the Caribbean), which is part of Costa Rica , and C2ES (Center for Climate and Energy Solutions).

C2ES is a non-profit organization that works closely with multiple governments and actors to achieve global agreements on sustainable development and climate change.

This Workshop has the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the Directorate of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Vice Minister Aguilar reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Costa Rica to move towards the construction of long-term development strategies, low emissions and resilient, that contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and at the same time potentiate the Costa Rican leadership in climate matters.

He also stressed that, " this small and ambitious country recognizes the challenges we face to achieve the milestones and transformations required for these profound changes; This is a task that we can only achieve together and we have the responsibility, all of us, to generate the political, social and economic responses that our societies need "

"The market mechanisms that allow establishing the Paris Agreement will be a fundamental link in the international climate architecture that will allow countries like ours, an innovator and leader in this field, to continue contributing to the international community and at the same time generating a benefit economic that benefits us all, "he said.

The meeting of experts is part of the efforts in climate action and foreign policy priorities on environmental diplomacy and climate change that has established the Alvarado Quesada Administration and whose efforts are led by the Vice President and Chancellor, Epsy Campbell Barr, with the support of Vice Chancellor Aguilar Revelo.

The Workshop will conclude this Friday, July 6 and its results will be the basis for future discussions that will seek to find common agreements that will allow us to move towards concrete results in favor of the Work Plan of the Paris Agreement, which should be adopted within the framework of COP 24 that will take place this December of this year in Katowice, Poland.
