Cory Loomer, St. John's High, Junior, 55.

It was arguably the most electrifying race of the day in a meet that didn't lack for excitement. Loomer of St. John's and Fitchburg senior Dracar Payton were both timed in 6.6 seconds in the 55 at the Central Mass. Division 1 Championships, the nod going to Loomer in a photo finish. Their times nipped the four-year-old meet record by five one-hundredths of a second. The 6-foot, 185-pound Loomer followed that up by finishing 10th at the Division 1 state meet, which sent an incredible eight sprinters on to the all-state meet. Loomer considers winning the 2004 Little League state title with Jesse Burkett to be his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Wayne and Paula Loomer of Shrewsbury.
