Company description: Andrew Corp., founded in 1937, is a global supplier of communications systems equipment and services to commercial, industrial, government and military customers. Major markets are wireless communications -- which includes cellular, personal communications systems, and land mobile radio -- broadcast and common carrier.

Its principal products are coaxial cables, microwave and satellite earth station antenna systems, radar and communication reconnaissance systems, computer connectivity devices and wireless telephone accessories.

Coaxial cables are used to carry radio frequency signals, while waveguides have their greatest application at higher frequencies, although they are also employed in UHF broadcasting. Semiflexible cables and waveguides are sold under the trademark HELIAX(R).

Microwave antenna systems are used in land-based microwave radio networks by the telecommunications industry for telephone, telex, video and data transmissions.

Earth station antenna systems are used at land-based terminals to receive signals from, and transmit signals to, communications satellites for distribution of CATV, UHF and VHF broadcasts.

Defense electronics products, including electronic scanning and communications receiver systems, are used primarily for intelligence gathering in strategic surveillance operations.

Computer connectivity devices include token-ring local area network solutions, and PC and Macintosh connectivity solutions for data transmission to users of IBM midrange and mainframe equipment.

Wireless telephone accessories include antennas and accessories for mobile applications, such as batteries and hands-free kits for the cellular, two-way radio, paging and personal communications markets.

Sales in FY'95 (ended Sept. 30, 1995) were $626.5 million. Net income for the same period was $67.8 million. Stock 52 week high/low as of March 5, 1996: 64 1/2 - 28 1/4 adjusted for split.
