Cops arrest 3 poachers carrying leopard skin.

THE police on Thursday arrested three poachers who were carrying leopard skin and other animal organs in Devprayag, Tehri district of Uttrakhand.

Kuldeep Rawat, Diwan Rawat and Virendra Dutt Semwal were heading to Rishikesh, via the Srinagar- Devprayag highway in a car when the police nabbed them. A special task force team of the Uttarakhand Police had apparently received a tip- off about sale of animal skin in the area. The police had, in recent times, received several reports regarding poaching of leopard skin around Maniknath forest range in Tehri.

" The cost of leopard skin in the international market is about `` 6.5 lakh. We will carry out in- depth investigation to obtain information about the network of people involved in the illegal trade of animal skin and organs," a senior police officer said.
