CopperCom Enables New Opportunities for Garden Valley Telephone Company; Upgrade to Next-Generation Switch Consolidates and Simplifies Network Management, Provides Opportunity for Growth and New Revenue.

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- CopperCom today announced that Garden Valley Telephone Company, a 100-year old independent operating company (IOC) in northwest Minnesota, has deployed the CopperCom Converged Switching eXchange (CSX(R)) next-generation softswitch platform. With the implementation of the CSX switch, Garden Valley Telephone Company has the ability to consolidate digital loop carrier systems in twenty-four (24) exchanges, resulting in significantly simplified management and increased control of their network. The CSX softswitch will also enable Garden Valley to deploy a range of advanced services, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) for its customers.

Garden Valley Telephone Company, headquartered in Erskine, Minnesota, provides communications solutions to over 15,000 subscribers across eight counties and 24 exchanges in northwest Minnesota. It was originally founded as a cooperative comprised of several small, farmer-owned telephone companies.

Committed to maximizing operational excellence and efficiency, the company has effectively leveraged the deployment of the CSX to implement a solution that supports a series of broadband digital loop carriers (DLCs) throughout its 3,700 square-mile territory. The configuration offers Garden Valley a single point of control, thereby reducing network management costs.

"By migrating from an embedded TR08 network to CopperCom's CSX switch, we're able to save both money and time and are now poised to expand our service offerings," said George Fish, general manager, Garden Valley Telephone Company. "The CSX will enable us to quickly roll-out IP-based services such as VoIP and IPTV."

"For the past century, Garden Valley Telephone Company has been committed to providing its customers with the highest levels of service and functionality," said Mel Ethem, vice president, sales, CopperCom. "The CSX will enable them to maximize opportunities for continued growth and innovation, allowing them to make advanced communication technologies a reality for their customers."

CopperCom switches enable Class 5 and Class 4 service providers to seamlessly migrate their networks to revenue-generating, next-generation IP communications. The field-proven CopperCom CSX switching system is capable of delivering applications ranging from greenfield deployments and cap-and-replace of legacy systems to advanced service delivery over packet networks. The CSX offers advanced VoIP services, legacy voice services and personalized control of features via a Web-based interface.
