Coors celebrates five years of distribution in the Big Apple.

Last week, Coors Brewing Co. celebrated five years of partnership with the New York beer wholesaler network, along with chain stores, independent retailers and tavern owners.

The first six-pack of Coors beer arrived in metropolitan New York on March 20, 1987.

Since its arrival, millions of kegs, bottles and cans of Coors products have been consumed by New York City residents, a Coors spokesperson said.

"As far as we know, it's been the most successful introduction of a malt beverage line in New York in the last 25 years," said Rory Ahearn, sales manager at Coors Distributing of New York.

Realizing that the New York City distribution system required specialized attention, Coors and Coors Distributing worked closely to address the needs of all involved, Ahearn added. When Coors first became available in the city, brewery president Peter Coors made it a point to meet with many local merchant associations in an attempt to smooth the way for his brands' distribution.
