Coors begins brewing in Memphis

Peter Coors, president, Coors Brewing Co., officially opened Coor's Memphis, TN, plant last week by driving the first packages out the door for delivery.

"Our employees and many of the people of Memphis have worked long and hard to make this day happen," Coors said. "The opening of this plant is the beginning of a long relationship for Coors and the Memphis community."

On April 1, the Memphis plant began finishing and packaging Coors and Coors Light that had been shipped from the Golden, CO, brewery. Coors officials expect to package approximately one million barrels of beer this year in Memphis, while continuing to review its options to put the plant on full-time brewing.
