Coors Light supports inaugural parade's Colorado contingent.

Sporting an unorthodox combination of beach wear and snow gear, Colorado's 11-member team of self-proclaimed "lawn chair activists" participated in the pre-inaugural parade activities in the nation's capital on January 20.

The Precision Lawn Chair Team of Vail conducted their lawn chair drills in advance of the parade and travelled to the White House along with performers from all 50 states.

The trip was made possible by sponsorship by Coors Brewing Co. and Coors Light as well as contributions from other sources.

Dedicated to "making America a better place to sit" and "educating the general public on the proper and safe use of lawn chairs," the team, according to member Jeff Atencio, achieved its ultimate goal - planting their chairs on the "ultimate lawn," the turf at the White House.

Upon learning of the team's fundraising efforts, Coors prepared a sponsorship package enabling the team to accept its invitation to the parade.

"While in the process of entertaining Coloradans for several years with their one-of-a-kind demonstrations, the Lawn Chair Team has become a veritable cultural institution in our state," explained Lee Buxton, Coors Light brand manager. "Assisting them in their quest to perform in front of the White House was our way of sharing their unique talents with the rest of the nation."

In addition to financial support, Coors supplied the team with new lawn chairs and apparel for their Washington stint.
