Coors' donations to boost morale

Coors Brewing Co. hopes to help boost the morale of U.S. military troops in Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf by donating 500 frisbees, 200 footballs, 800 books, 400 magazines and thousands of other items.

The items are being sent as part of the "Coors Holiday Care Package," which was mailed before Thanksgiving for distribution to servicemen and women who haven't received mail from the United States.

"The tremendous outpouring of public support has been significant morale booster for the troops assigned to Operation Desert Sheild," said Capt. Barbara Goodno, spokesperson, Army public affairs office. "Any effort made by the public is so moving especially because these gifts are from people the troops will never meet."

Items were collected November 5 through November 15 by V.I.C.E. (Volunteers In Community Enrichment), a Coors volunteer group which set up collection points throughout the company's Colorado facility.
