Cooper will decide by March of this year whether to build a second extruded rubber products plant in Bowling Green, OH, where currently the 260,000 sq. fl. plant is at maximum capacity due to an increase in demand from automobile manufacturers for the extruded hose and body sealing products made there. The company is looking at a 40acre site near the existing plant on which to build a 160,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and a 20,000 sq. ft. office facility. If the plans develop as intended, construction could begin during the first quarter of 1993, with production beginning as early as the third quarter. Total employment could increase by as much as 400 additional jobs. Current employment at Bowling Green is about 600.
