SWANSEA City head coach Steve Cooper has won the Championship Manager of the Month award for August.

The 39-year-old is yet to see his side lose since being named as Swans boss earlier this year, winning seven of his eight competitive matches in all competitions to date.

The Swans claimed a remarkable 16 points from the 18 on offer in the opening month of the 2019/20 Championship season to occupy top spot in the table over the course of the international break.

And Cooper has won the managerial prize for August, seeing off Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer and Bristol City's Lee Johnson to claim the award.

Cooper becomes the first Swansea boss to win a Manager of the Month prize since Paul Clement was given the honour in January 2017. Preston North End's Daniel Johnson won the Player of the Month gong for August. He saw off stiff competition from Charlton front man Lyle Taylor, Brentford striker Ollie Watkins and Swansea defender Mike van der Hoorn.

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports' EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Meanwhile the judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Goodman, Rowan and Davies.

Swansea aim to stretch their unbeaten record this season to nine matches in all competitions when they host Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
