Cooper goes for Cossack in Gold Cup.

Byline: Jack Haynes

BRYAN COOPER'S dilemma over the pick of the Dons was resolved yesterday morning, when the 23-year-old elected to partner Gordon Elliott's Don Cossack over Willie Mullins' Don Poli for Gigginstown House Stud in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup tomorrow.

Cooper rode Don Poli to RSA Chase victory last year and his choice ensured Don Cossack led the market last night at a best-priced 3-1. Djakadam was 7-2, PS1 million bonus chaser Cue Card 4-1 and Don Poli, who will be ridden by Davy Russell, 9-2. Road To Riches was among the ten declared for the Gold Cup but is set to contest the Ryanair Chase today. The Giant Bolster will now line up in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase today under Finian Maguire.

Cooper (pictured) said: "The ground is plenty dry enough for Don Cossack and he's officially the highestrated horse in training. It wasn't an easy decision and if I get it wrong I'll be kicking myself for six months."
