Cool for Bobcats; LETTERS.

IT'S always interesting to read Bev Bevan's column in the Sunday Mercury, and the many letters that result from readers about the pop groups from the Midlands area.

I have often wondered what became of my old favourite live bands from the 1960s.

I was a railwayman working at Curzon Street station and was a regular visitor to the railway staff association club in Inkerman Street.

We were often entertained by a group called The Bobcats, who had been signed up by Lew Grade of ATV and recorded a song titled Let Me get Bye on the Pye Records label. If I remember right, the song was written by members of another local group, The Uglys.

Another great live band was The Mountaners (I think that how it was misspelled) who were another of my favourites in the local pubs.
