Cooke nets a Bunbury call up; CRICKET.

SHROPSHIRE all-rounder Harry Cooke has been called up to represent the Midlands Under-15s at the prestigious Bunbury Festival next month at Felsted School in Essex, writes Dave Ballinger.

It comes off the back of a successful season playing for Shropshire Under 15s, Shrewsbury School and Shrewsbury CC where he has been in good form with the bat and also picked up plenty of wickets.

The Bunbury Festival is now part of the official player pathway leading to the England Age-Group set up, with next year's under-16s England squad picked after the Best Of Bunbury game which is held during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Cooke will be following in the footsteps of England selector James Taylor and World Cup winners Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali who are all former Midlands Bunburys.

Cooke hails from North Shropshire and attended the Grove School at Market Drayton and played for the Market Drayton CC before he made the move to Shrewsbury School.

This season he has scored numerous 50s and also reached three figures for Shropshire under-15s against Bedfordshire at Newport.

He has also excelled with the ball, taking two hat-tricks with his medium-fast seamers for Shropshire in their victory over Herefordshire.

He is also a talented footballer - his father is Andy Cooke who started his career with Telford United before going on to be play professionally for Stoke, Shrewsbury and Burnley amongst others.

Cooke will be presented with his Midlands cap in front of the Sky Sports cameras by former England skipper Sir Alastair Cook during the Bunbury Festival.
