The prevailing regulations organized entry and exit of foreigners in Libya as follows:

Firstly, entry and stay for work

1-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Work permission or arraignment issued by department of labor and occupational training according employer's application.

2-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa The entry visa will be granted by department of passports, nationality and foreigners' affairs (PNFA) according work permission or arraignment from people's offices abroad or port entry (airports, sea ports, road ports)

3-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa The stay permit is granted for work according the following:

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Signed contract between employer and employee approved by labor and occupational training department (LOTD).Aa LD 500 to be paid for subsidized services rendered.

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Undertaking from employer to employ national labor in the jobs stated by LOTD.

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Undertaking from employee to depart during one month from termination of contract.


Secondly, entry visas for diplomatic missions, businessmen and invited persons from public authorities:

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Entry visas will be granted at ports entry to the mentioned categories according letter from foreign liaison and international cooperation (public protocol authority) for members of diplomatic missions and concerned parties or inviting parties according the case.



Thirdly, entry visas for tourism purposes:

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Entry visas for tourism purposes are granted by PNFA in people's offices abroad or ports entry according the following:

1-AaAaAaAaAa Application from the person or company or tourism Tashrukia.

2-AaAaAaAaAa Undertaking from the company or Tashrukia to cover tourist's expenses for at least $ 1000.00 or its equivalent in a convertible currency and an account will be opened for this purpose for deposit of tourists expenses.

3-AaAaAaAaAa AaIn case of individual tourism, it is necessary to have $ 1000.00 or its equivalent in a convertible currency; or valid credit card and the tourist will convert this amount in Libyan dinars at the port entry.

4-AaAaAaAaAa Undertaking to depart during one month from entry date for tourism purposes either from individual or company or tourism Tashrukia according the case.


-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Businessmen, invited parties from public authorities and tourists are exempted from the condition of translating the passport

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Health and other financial conditions stipulated in the prevailing conditions organizing entry, stay and exit of foreigners in Libya should be complied with.

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa The granted visa should not be used in any other purpose

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Financial fines will be imposed by concerned control parties for any person who contradicts prevailing regulations

-AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAa Air, marine and road transport companies will be responsible towards return of any foreigners to the first points of embarkation on its account in case of non compliance with above conditions

Foreigners who are presently in Libya are requested to settle their status during two months from date of publication of these controls.
