Akron, OH-based GenCorp Automotive will share its expertise in vehicle component manufacturing with Dongil Rubber Belt in the Republic of Korea as part of a technical assistance and license agreement. GenCorp will provide Dongil with assistance and training in manufacturing, quality, compound and tooling design, which Dongil will use to manufacture components at its plant in Yangsan for automotive manufacturers including Hyundai and Kia Motors. Dongil is an independent supplier of rubber components, including vehicle sealing parts, transmission belts and vibration isolation devices, to the automotive industry in Korea.

Goodyear will provide technology to South Korea's Hyundai Petrochemical for the design and operation of a new synthetic rubber production facility as part of a licensing agreement. Hyundai plans to invest $115 million to complete the plant, which will produce styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, vinyl pyridine latex and solution styrene butadiene rubber. A related agreement allows Goodyear to purchase a portion of the plant's tire-grade rubber. The Dasean, South Korea plant is slated to open in mid-1995.

Oliver Rubber entered an agreement with McNeil & NRM for the lease of all models of Orbitread equipment, which are programmable cold feed extruders. Both Oliver and McNeil & NRM are involved in the retread industry.

Under a technical and business agreement, REP and its affiliates around the world have become sole distributors for Sacomat's range of vacuum compression machines to the international market, except France, where Sacomat uses its own sales force. Located in Schambery, France, Sacomat's vacuum compression machines are primarily used for technical rubber molding and should complement REP's range of injection molding presses and technology.

Pacific Coast Retreaders, an Oakland, CA-based supplier of Long Mile retreading to the intermodal industry, has been awarded a 7,400 tire contract for radial intermodal retreading by Matson Shipping Lines, a container transporter. Matson will use the size 11R22.5 retreads on new chassis to be delivered later this year.

ECC International, Atlanta, GA, named D.H. Litter, a specialty chemical distributor based in Elmsford, NY, as exclusive distributor of its calcium carbonate products in 13 mid-Atlantic and northeastern states.

General Tire will supply the state of Tennessee with more than 2,400 XP2000 AS high performance police pursuit tires for use on state-owned law enforcement vehicles. Akron, OH-based General won the contract based upon competitive bidding.
