Contender Books wound up.
The Contender Entertainment Group (Contender) has closed its three-year-old pop-culture publishing business.
The company had touted Contender Books around several large publishers in hope of finding a buyer but attracted no firm interest.
Contender has already laid off all its publishing staff as it re-focuses the group on its core property development and home video businesses. Sales for the book division were worth GBP4.4m in 2003 and its list included the bestselling autobiography by Shane Richie, 'Rags to Richie', reports The Bookseller.
