Contador crashes; CYCLING.
GIRO D'ITALIA STAGE SEVEN Eurosport, 1.30pm BOOKMAKERS declined to update Giro d'Italia quotes early last night as race favourite Alberto Contador was heading to hospital after hurting his left shoulder in a crash on stage six, writes Adrian Humphries.
Contador, who went down in the final sprint, was unable to lift his arm after hitting the deck. But his Tinkoff Saxo team said they were confident that the Spaniard, who leads Fabio Aru by two seconds on GC and was 13-8 on Betfair's exchange, would continue.
Today's stage takes the riders on a predominantly flat 263km ride, the longest in the Giro since 2000, from Grosseto to Fiuggi, where there could be an uphill sprint finish unless a breakaway occurs.
