Conservatives comprise largest segment of political views in US: Survey.

Washington, Jan 13( ANI ): At least 40 percent of Americans consider themselves conservative, comprising the largest segment of political views in the country and outnumbering liberals nearly two-to-one, a new poll has found.

The Gallup survey also found that 35 percent consider themselves moderates, and 21 percent view themselves as liberals, Politico reports. onservatives began outnumbering moderates in 2008, and the moderates have declined steadily in the US over the past two decades from 43 percent in 1992 to 35 percent in 2011.

But both self-identified conservatives and liberals in the US have increased since the early 1990s.

Atleast 71 percent of Republicans are self-identified conservatives, while 39 percent of Democrats view themselves as liberal, and 38 percent consider themselves moderates.

Meanwhile, 41 percent of Independents are moderates, 35 percent are inclined towards conservatism, as compared to 20 percent liberals.he Gallup survey, which was conducted between January and December 2011, interviewed 20,392 American respondents. ( ANI )
