Conseco Inc. (Executives).
Gary C. Wendt has resigned as chief executive officer of the troubled life insurer and finance company Conseco Inc. after attempting for more than two years to lead the company back to profitability.Wendt will keep his position as chairman, the company said. "Our day to day operations are in the hands of strong, capable leaders," Wendt said in a brief statement.
The company said it is continuing discussions with debt holders in an effort to fashion a "consensual restructuring." Conseco said the restructuring effort would continue under the direction of Bill Shea, its president and chief operating officer.
