Congenial environment within parties to help empower women.

QUETTA -- Congenial environment within the political parties would encourage women to participate in the political process of the country and get the issues of the women-folk resolved, said the speakers at a seminar held here on Tuesday.

The event organized by the Aurat Foundation discussed Women Political Participation and Upcoming General Election.

Speakers from mainstream political parties, lawyers and representatives of the NGOs stressed the need for bringing change into Men's mind to ensure maximum women participation in the development of the country.

They also stressed for more women participation at all higher political forums like National, Provincial Assemblies and Senate.

Former Balochistan MPA Dr Shama Shaq said, "It is collective responsibility of the women to take part in the politics and excel in every field,".

Mr Raha Malik of National Party advised the women intending to join politics to study politics and augment their political vision thorough active participation in the seminars, public gatherings.

"We should be careful of the hidden intention of the foreign donors funding NGOs on empowering women in Pakistan in the wake of international inters in Pakistan he said, adding women with no political vision would easily be working for the interest of the foreign elements.

Regional Director Aurat Foundation Mr Haroon Dawood noted that AF has been striving hard on the lines to empower suppressed women and make them an active member of the society.

Earlier, Operational Manager NADRA Farrukh Shehzad gave short briefing to the participants on the National Identity Card making process and close coordination with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
