Both my adult children were confirmed with their class at a Catholic grade school (eighth grade). I was not in communion with the church at the time and did not reinforce the faith at home. One is becoming a member of a fundamentalist Protestant church and the other is minimally Catholic.
I do not think that everyone should be as old as I was, but unless we strengthen the domestic church, which is the family, the age of receiving Confirmation will remain a moot point. I am thrilled that God called me when he did. Older is better if the commitment is to be taken seriously.
