ConfigCon(TM) Silicon Valley 2006 Attracted More Than 600 Registrants to Listen to 30+ Presentations Covering Configurable Processor Technology.

Event Concludes the Successful 2006 Global Conference Series and Launches the 2007 International Program on a Strong Foundation

ELSTREE, England -- ARC International (LSE:ARK), the world leader in configurable subsystems and CPU/DSP processors, today announced that ConfigCon([TM]) Silicon Valley attracted a record 633 registrants to listen to more than 30 companies from the ecosystem supporting system-on-chip (SoC) design with configurable processor technology. In 2006, over 1000 design engineers in Asia and the U.S. attended the three ConfigCon events. Electronic copies of the presentations made at ConfigCon Silicon Valley as well as ConfigCon Taiwan and ConfigCon China are now available at

"The Silicon Valley venue was a successful conclusion to the 2006 ConfigCon developer conference series that is educating the worldwide semiconductor industry on configurability," said Derek Meyer, senior vice president of sales and marketing at ARC International. "We would like to thank all of the companies who supported ConfigCon throughout the year whose support and assistance was invaluable. For 2007 we expect ConfigCon to continue its momentum and bring the message of configurability to other highly active markets doing leading-edge SoC design."

Held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, keynotes for the first day of ConfigCon Silicon Valley from Toshiba, TSMC North America, Cadence Design Systems, the University of Edinburgh, and ARC International detailed the technology wave building behind configurable CPUs to a standing room only audience. At lunch Jim Feldhan, president of Semico Research, forecasted there will be 1 billion SoCs shipping to market by 2010 incorporating a configurable core. The afternoon featured 12 breakout presentations from firms offering software and hardware solutions supporting "configurable SoC design," and EDA company executives from Cadence, Magma, Coware, Azuro, Tenison, and the University of Edinburgh held a lively panel discussion on how configurability is becoming the SoC design methodology for the twenty-first century.

During the Digitimes Forum at ConfigCon on the second day, the audience heard keynote presentations from Dr. Sun Yuning, Chairman of China's IGRS (Intelligent Grouping and Resources Sharing) Working Group, Dr. Nicky Lu, CEO of Etron and the Chairman of FSA Asia Pacific, and Steven Joe, CEO of D-Link North America. They were followed by a panel discussion describing emerging opportunities between Asia and Silicon Valley, which was moderated by venture capitalist Bob Lin - founder of Multi-Dimensional Venture Partners. The afternoon of day two featured 10 breakout sessions with companies such as Abilis Systems, Berkeley Design Technology, Inc. (BDTi), Digitimes, Fraunhofer, FSP Group, iFLYTEK, Mindtree, and Xambala.

About the ConfigCon([TM]) Conference Series

ConfigCon is a global developer conference series that informs SoC engineers on hardware and software solutions based upon configurable processor technology - the industry's fastest growing microprocessor architecture according to Semico Research Corporation. Three ConfigCon events took place in 2006 in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Shanghai, China, and Silicon Valley. For 2007 ConfigCon will continue to educate the global semiconductor industry in new locations.
