Conference to focus on Collaborative Governance.

The City of Louisville, Ky., will host the upcoming Alliance for Regional Stewardship (ARS) Forum, November 811, 2005, focused on the theme "Collaborative Governance: Is Your Community Ready?"

The conference will explore the merger of the City of Louisville with surrounding Jefferson County, as well as other successful models of collaboration, new ideas in building regional identity, and practical, collaborative, and innovative approaches to addressing common regional challenges.

ARS is a national nonprofit organization that fosters collaborative, multi-sector regional stewardship as a means for advancing economic, social and environmental progress, while maintaining a sense of place, in America's metropolitan region.

ARS was founded in May 2000 as a network of leaders from metropolitan areas around the country. Elected officials, regional business leaders, and nonprofit organizations realized they needed a place to learn about best practices and lessons learned from other parts of the country. ARS has attracted leaders from over 150 metropolitan and rural regions, both in the United States and around the world.
