Condor Systems, Inc. Purchases Microwave Surveillance Systems Unit from Watkins-Johnson.

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 1995-- Watkins-Johnson Company (NYSE:WJ) and Condor Systems, Inc. today jointly announced Condor's purchase of WJ's Microwave Surveillance Systems (MSS) unit, a segment of Watkins-Johnson's Electronics Group. Revenue of the MSS unit in 1994 was approximately $25 million.

The agreement covers non-communications microwave surveillance systems only. Under the agreement, WJ retains its microwave components and subsystems business, and has agreed to be a supplier of that equipment to Condor in support of its new acquisition.

Officials at the two firms said the acquisition strengthens Condor's position as a supplier of electronic intelligence (ELINT) and electronic support measures (ESM) equipment and systems, and allows WJ to focus more strongly on its core product lines.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Officials at Condor said the acquired business unit will be consolidated into Condor's headquarters operation in San Jose, Calif.
