Conditions tightened for Hajj tour operators.
ISLAMABAD, July 13, 2010 (Balochistan Times): Ministry for
Religious Affairs has tightened the conditions over Hajj Quota for
private Hajj tour operators. Sources said that Hajj quota would be
provided to those operators who could be able to deposit Rs 50,000 as
bank guarantee and should also have obtained valid permission card from
Saudi government. While company should have its own website, proper
office and electronic data transmission facility and could facilitate at
least 300 people. If the company is newly established then it needs to
get membership of IATA or its equivalent. Ministry said, the company
would be declared black list, if it would not follow the new conditions.
While other conditions which have to be followed by the company would
include a photograph of manager or chief executive of the tour company
including other particulars to be submitted to ministry, companys
account in scheduled bank of ministry. The company should have neither
violated the rules and regulations of Pakistan Hajj policy nor Saudi
Hajj policy, the administration should fully be aware of all principles
of hajj. The company should not have ever been involved with ministry
over any dispute in court and companies should also take cash from
pilgrims as guarantee. Ministry spokesperson said that the basic purpose
to tighten the hajj conditions is to ensure better facilities for
pilgrims and to control the cases of fraud.
