MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--

Cabletron's NOC to Use Network Health For Capacity Planning and to

Justify International IT Investments

Concord Communications(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:CCRD), the leader in Web-based network performance reporting and analysis solutions, today announced that Cabletron Systems (NYSE: CS) has selected Concord's Network Health(R)--to proactively monitor its business-critical network. As part of Cabletron's global expansion, it will use Network Health to maximize the performance of its worldwide WAN connections.

As companies expand overseas, their networks become increasingly complex and grow to support more individual users, business units and regional departments. With Network Health, Cabletron can guarantee that business continues regardless of time zone or location, and that abnormal network conditions are addressed before they impact critical business functions.

"As we continue to expand internationally, our global network is increasingly critical to running our business," said Marty Gagne, Network Operations Systems Administrator for Cabletron Systems. "By equipping our network operations center with Network Health, we can proactively plan capacity on our WAN links, and rest easy knowing that business overseas will continue uninterrupted around-the-clock."

Network Health provides Cabletron with the ability to quickly identify problems on its WAN, including Frame Relay and point-to-point connections. The information generated in these reports lets Cabletron effectively plan for future network problems based on historical trends. Network Health's concise and easy-to-understand panels enable Cabletron to accurately measure WAN bandwidth utilization from the previous day and determine when specific network elements such as segment volume are above or below normal levels.

"As companies continue to expand their international relationships, they rely on Network Health to ensure normal business operations continue around-the-clock," said Dan Phillips, vice president of sales for Concord. "Like other technology leaders, Cabletron has realized the business impact a network outage can cause. Network Health helps optimize the performance of their networks and proactively plan to eliminate costly downtime."

The Boston Globe recently included Concord Communications in its Globe 100 List, and for the second year in a row, Forbes ASAP listed Concord as one of its Forbes ASAP Dynamic 100 picks.
