Concerted efforts being undertaken against narcotics: Commissioner.
KARACHI -- Concerted efforts are being undertaken against the menace of narcotics.
This was stated by Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, on Wednesday.
He was presiding over a meeting of the Anti-Narcotics Divisional Committee in his office.
The Commissioner said that he was in contact with the Anti-Narcotics Force, the Excise Department and the police.
He pointed out that the Karachi administration has strengthened collaboration among the institutions against narcotics.
Siddiqui informed that in association with the civil society steps would be initiated for fostering awareness against narcotics.
The meeting decided that the deputy commissioners would take effective action against 'Shisha', 'Gutka', 'Mainpuri' as well as narcotics in their respective areas.
It was pointed out that in the drive against narcotics, 3,817 accused were arrested from January to August this year and over 37 kg heroin recovered from them. A large quantity of liquor and Charas was also seized.
Commissioner maintained that it augurs well that Anti-Narcotics Force's crackdown against drug mafia produced positive results and several drug dens were busted.
He directed the deputy commissioners to promote sports activities in their respective areas and link these with efforts against narcotics.
