Concert for Britten's centenary.

THE singers and musicians of Birmingham Cathedral will be marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten with a performance of his beautiful Ceremony of Carols at 7.30pm on Friday, January, 25 in the Cathedral.

Individual pieces from the ceremony are often performed in public, but the concert provides an opportunity to hear the entire work, comprising 11 movements.

The entire cathedral choir will be performing the work, including the boys, girls and men singers and, for this performance, harpist Tanya Harper.

The Ceremony of Carols will be directed by Marcus Huxley, Director of Music at Birmingham Cathedral.

"The standard of the singing will be really phenomenal," said Canon Janet Chapman, Canon Liturgist.

Tickets PS7.50 (concessions PS5) available from the Cathedral Office or on the door.
