Comtech Telecommunications Corp (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced on Monday the award to Comtech EF Data Corp, its subsidiary, of a USD1.1m order for infrastructure equipment from a large mobile network operator in Saudi Arabia.

Reportedly, this mobile operator will utilise the equipment to expand its existing Comtech EF Data-based mobile backhaul network to support both fixed and mobile users.

According to Comtech, to support the network expansion, the mobile operator will leverage the CDM-760 Advanced High-Speed Trunking Modem, which provides maximum link efficiencies at high speeds via its DVB-S2 Efficiency Boost technology and the CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem, equipped with the VersaFEC-2 Forward Error Correction to provide the best application performance for medium-speed to low-speed links.

Also, both modems leverage the DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth re-use technique to provide optimal economics. In addition, the CX-U Series RAN Optimization and intelligent LPOD Ku-Band Block Up Converter (BUC) will be utilized.

Comtech Telecommunications designs, develops, produces and markets products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions.
