Material from a July 2005 workshop provides a snapshot of the state of the art in perception architectures and algorithms. Several papers present working practical systems that have been designed for real applications and scientific investigation in physics, biomedicine, and biology. Themes of the workshop include architectures for vision, smart sensors, embedded systems, features extraction, data analysis, video systems, coprocessors and instruction sets, distributed image analysis, and distributed video servers. Individual papers detail work in ares such as a bit-level compiler for massively parallel vision chips, and face localization in color images with complex background. There is no subject index.
