SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2000

TDMF Being Deployed in Worldwide Data Centers

Amdahl Software today announced that Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) has signed a global license for TDMF(TM) software, Amdahl's widely successful storage management solution.

CSC is deploying the product in a number of its worldwide data centers in North America, Europe and Australia. The company runs TDMF software on OS/390 systems and uses it to manage point-in-time backup and disk migrations across a full range of HDS, IBM, Amdahl, STK and EMC disk models.

"TDMF is the only product that enables us to migrate data regardless of the vendor's disk storage hardware on an OS/390 platform," said CSC Computer Scientist Paul C. Taylor. "This gives us a lot of flexibility in achieving data movement and backup needs for our customers. TDMF software also gives us the ability to move data from one vendor's hardware to another without the need for cabling and outside professional services."

Taylor added that TDMF software helped CSC reduce costs while at the same time ensuring 24/7 availability. "TDMF eliminates vendor lock-in so we can leverage our buying power and get the best price on disk equipment," he explained. "Performing point-in-time back-up to disk also enables us to reduce the number of tape transports needed, mainstream our backup process and lower our net cost."

With the announcement of TDMF software in 1997, Amdahl Software positioned itself as the leading-edge provider of the industry's most efficient and powerful independent storage management facility. Its customer base has continued to grow at a rapid rate with more than 400 of the world's largest 1,000 corporations using TDMF software with an unprecedented degree of satisfaction.
