US-based Computer Associates International Inc (CA) has made available COOL:Plex Release 5.0, the latest version of its development tool that can be used to design and deliver e-business applications.

Version 5.0 allows companies to incorporate new technologies such as Java clients, wireless clients and transactional XML into existing applications. The tool can now also be used to design Java-based e-business applications for Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP and IBM i Series 400 platforms.

In addition the new version offers a drag-and-drop import capability that allows COOL:Plex to work seamlessly with CA's Jasmine Integration Server, enabling applications to be extended to packaged applications, components and additional databases. Other enhancements include new tools for easier viewing of application object dependencies and an improved program interface.

Pricing details were not disclosed.
