Complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act: A Guidebook for Management and People with Disabilities.

A comprehensive analysis of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), this guidebook provides detailed information on how managers and employers can implement the new act, how to interview and work with employees with disabilities, and an explanation of the implications of the final federal regulations for ADA. It also provides extensive information on the legislative, economic, and social history that led to the law's enactment and medical information on specific disabilities. The book also contains much useful, common sense information on how to relate to people with disabilities that most of us usually tend to forget in social situations. Primary research was gathered from interviews with federal officials, the authors of the new legislation, business leaders, and experts from the disability community. This book can be useful not only to managers and employers but also to co-workers, friends, operators of small businesses--such as restaurants, retail stores, recreational facilities--and others who deal directly with the public, as well as anyone who relates to people with disabilities socially.
