Competition helps companies get flier.

A COMPETITION organised by the Nat West and St Helens Chamber has helped two local companies to a flying start.

Taking the pounds 500 top prize in the Nat West's Best Business Plan competition - which covered St Helens, Prescot, Ormskirk and Southport - was Sue Ashley's bridal accessory business in Rainhill.

Barry Williams of Blackbrook based STQ Decorators made it a double for St Helens businesses collecting a pounds 250 runners-up prize. Both businesses were set up with help from St Helens Chamber's Entrepreneur KickStart, which offers a package of support for new businesses.

If you think you have a business idea or would like to know what the first steps should be in setting up a business contact Karen Fenney at St Helens Chamber on 01744 742096.
