Compassion for gay marriage laudable; Letters.

I REALISE there is divided opinion over gay marriage but I must applaud Manchester Cathedral putting inclusive Christianity before religious dogma in according the same compassion to the murdered female policewoman who had a female civil partner as the other policewoman, when holding their funerals.

Likewise, I recently attended the funeral of an elderly man in Derby Cathedral who had lived with his male partner for 48 years. The order of service even had a photo of the two.

I do hope the next Dean of Coventry is similarly motivated by Christian compassion rather than dogma.
