(1) Quarterly data seasonally adjusted.

(2) Annual changes are December-to-December changes. Quarterly changes
are calculated using the last month of each quarter.

(3) The Employment Cost Index data reflect the conversion to the
2002 North American Classification System (NAICS) and the 2000
Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system. The NAICS and
SOC data shown prior to 2006 are for informational purposes
only. Series based on NAICS and SOC became the
official BLS estimates starting in March 2006.

(4) Excludes Federal and private household workers.

(5) Goods-producing industries include mining, construction,
and manufacturing. Service-providing industries include all
other private sector industries.

NOTE: Beginning in January 2003, household survey data
reflect revised population controls. Nonfarm data reflect the
conversion to the 2002 version of the North American Industry
Classification System (NAICS), replacing the Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC)) system. NAICS-based data by industry are
not comparable with SIC based data.
