Comparative Building Costs: RETAIL STORES.

CONVENIENCE STORE

The owner of this building had two goals for the project: a flashy, eye-catching design and low-maintenance, problem-free operation. The facility uses a NASCAR theme throughout the interior and exterior, with red highlights accompanying black and white checkered patterns. The car wash bays are finished in black and white quarry tile with a band of red. The exterior fascia is wrapped in a brushed aluminum with a red neon strip that illuminates the building. The canopy, parking lot and car wash bays are illuminated with 350-watt Scottsdale fixtures for nighttime safety. Glass between the bays minimizes blind spots.

SUPERMARKET

This nine-acre retail development is anchored by a full-service supermarket. Its enormous neon sign can be seen from more than a mile away, and the entire development features a vibrant, open environment infused with the character of the Latino and Native American communities served by the development's parent company. The parking lot is landscaped with individual native trees instead of shrubs for maximum visibility. Building materials like concrete masonry units and concrete walkways are easy to maintain, but are dressed up with bright colors and inviting decor for a shopping experience that's more Main Street than strip mall.
